„If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?” James 2:15-16

It probably has already happened to you as well that you might have been made to stop on the street by suspicious, homeless people – with wine bottles in their pocket – or they have knocked on the window of your car begging for money in their own or in their “sick” family members’ name. Then we have the question on our brain: shall I give or not? God is teaching us to show mercy to the poor. Still, the guy has his bottle in his pocket! Is it true indeed that he is poor or is he being forced to beg? What shall I do then? We hope that you will have the answer after reading the following thoughts.

What can you do once you have become interested in our ministry?

TámogatásFirst and foremost:

Pray for our ministry – for perseverance in the ministry team, for unity, for God’s guidance… We would like to grow in our ministry but we need a bigger building, more gifts and more volunteers.

Direct help:

  • Work at the kitchen: help in preparing and serving food
  • Engage yourself in personal communication with the homeless
  • We would be glad to receive clean and possibly not out-of-fashion clothes, shoes as well as preserved food

Financial support:

We also need to recruit new supporters and resources. We also need to recruit new supporters and resources.

Getting back to our question in the introduction:

Shall I give or not? Help in our church’s ministry. Our workers know these people who live on the streets and they meet true needs.

Pray for us and if you can come and serve with us, or you can back our ministry financially as well.

The next time someone makes you stop on the street begging for money you can already say to them: “I have already sent my gifts for you to Vorosmarty Street 17. Go there and they will help you there.”

If you’ve come to know your personal answer to the question: act accordingly!
